Our Ministers

Sondra Umberger

Ordained Minister, Founder, President, of Healing Hearts Ministry, Inc.

Due to very difficult life experiences at a young age I began a quest for truth and answers to

life’s biggest questions. As a result, I came to know Jesus in a personal way at the age of seven.

Over the years I have gained a heart and understanding for people who have or are struggling

with life’s challenges often brought on by poor choices; either ones own or that of others.

During my teen years I sought and encouraged friends to participate in Bible studies with me as

a way to seek answers on how to deal with the peer pressure that was prevalent. Through out

my life, I have always opened my home for others to learn about Christ and the Bible whether I

or someone else was leading the study.

I graduated magna cum laude with an applied science degree in Dental Hygiene. I worked and

served the public in the dental profession for 27 years. 1981-2008

My career path took me to Switzerland where I was employed as a Dental Hygienist for 4+ years.

During that time I was involved with the International Church of Luzern. This was a Christian

interdenominational church. I held the position of leadership in public relations, which was

evangelism and discipleship. I visited local businesses & public organizations to let them know

of the opportunities our church offered as well as led and taught Bible studies for the church

and others who were interested in the community. 1988-1992

Upon my return to the USA and over the years, I have studied Christian discipleship/counseling:

Word to the World Bible College. Studies involved Old and New Testament understanding and

knowledge, hermeneutics, exegetics and apologetics, with the main emphasis majoring in

Biblical Counseling.1992-1998

First steps & Operation Timothy; a bible study series and a discipleship tool to teach and

instruct others in the foundational principles of Christianity, apologetics, and kingdom perspectives.

While serving and ministering at CBMC, which is a men’s ministry, focused on reaching the

professional community with the knowledge of Christ, and under my husband’s leadership as

Metro Director, the ministry expanded to involve professional women. I directed the women’s

ministry, which entailed event follow-up, meeting one-on-one or in small groups, facilitating,

& teaching investigative Bible studies and advanced levels of discipleship/counseling.1995-2004

“Theophostic prayer is intentional and focused prayer with the desired outcome of an authentic

encounter with the presence of Christ, resulting in mind renewal and subsequent transformed

life.” “Theo (God) Phostic (Light) is a ministry of prayer that is Christ-centered and God-reliant

for its direction and outcome. Simply stated, it is encouraging a person to discover and expose

what he/she believes that is a falsehood; and then encouraging him/her to have an encounter

with Jesus Christ through prayer, thus allowing the Lord to reveal His truth to the wounded

person’s heart and mind. It is allowing a person to have a personal encounter with the Lord

Jesus in the midst of a person’s emotional pain.” *Quotes from founder Ed Smith
